Architect and ACAN co-founder Joe Giddings is UK Networks lead for Amsterdam-based Built by Nature, a grant-funding organisation dedicated to promoting greater use of timber and other bio-based materials in the built environment. Joe coordinates Built by Nature’s UK network of developers, designers, investors & insurers, driving industry transformation towards greater uptake of biorenewable materials through grant-funding, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

Previously project director of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products’ Timber Accelerator Hub, Joe is on the forefront of timber innovation, exploring how to unlock the insurance, fire and other barriers which hinder wider adoption across the industry. Joe will explain why we should build with timber and how best we should go about this, while shedding light on current misconceptions about the material. He will also provide an overview of the recently released New Model Building and share insights from Built by Nature’s current work streams, as well as pioneering projects in the pipeline.

Doors will open at 18.30. The talk will start around 19.00.
