The deadline for Roca’s international design contest, jumpthegap®, has been extended until 6 September 2021.

Entries remain open to both students and professionals and participants are invited to submit their designs either individually or in groups of two. The competition, which is organised in collaboration with Barcelona Design Centre, is divided into four categories that reflect the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Wellness & Health, [Un]neutral design, Water & Energy and Crisis & Emergency. Entrants are encouraged to present solutions that are technologically feasible, provide added value to innovation and show diversity, sustainability and adaptability.

All projects will be assessed by a jury of renowned professionals led by Japanese architect and 2014 Pritzker Prize winner Shigeru Ban and includes Somi Kim, Senior Director, Healthcare Solutions at Johnson & Johnson; Paul Priestman, Designer and Chairman of Priestman Goode and founders of Formafantasma Design Studio, Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin.

Over the previous nine editions of the contest, there has been more than 26,000 participants from 150 countries. This year’s winners will be awarded from a prize fund of €17,000, with all finalists having the opportunity to present their ground-breaking projects at a series of public roundtables that will continue into 2022.
